LT Andrew Coverston

Nuclear Programs 

Biographical Information

Originally from Charlotte, North Carolina, LT Andrew Coverston graduated from Arizona State University in 2020 with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. He received his commission from the Arizona State’s Navy ROTC program.

Following commissioning, LT Coverston completed Naval Nuclear Power School in Charleston, SC and subsequently qualify Engineering Officer of the Watch at S5W Prototype, also in Charleston, SC. After completing the Naval Nuclear Training pipeline, he attended Submarines Officer Basic Course (SOBC) in Groton, CT before reporting to the USS Nevada (SSBN 733), a ballistic missile submarine homeported in Bangor, WA.

LT Coverston served aboard USS Nevada serving from July 2022 to June 2025, during which time he completed 5 strategic deterrent patrols and 3 maintenance availabilities, including a major dry dock period. He initially served as the Main Propulsion Assistant and later the Assistant Operations Officer. He qualified Engineering Officer of the Watch for the S8G reactor plant and Officer of the Deck, both surfaced and submerged. In 2024, he qualified also Nuclear Engineering Officer on the S8G platform. 

In July 2025, LT Coverston reported to Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps Unit (NROTCU) Arizona State University (ASU), where he currently serves as the Nuclear Programs Officer.
