Marine Officer Instructor

Biographical Information

Capt Fretto, a Phoenix native, graduated from Arizona State University in 2019 with a degree in Global Health. Upon completing the officer training pipeline, he earned the title of Infantry Officer and assumed the position of a Rifle Platoon Commander with 2nd Battalion 6th Marines (V26) in June 2020.


As a Rifle Platoon Commander, he deployed with the 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) to the Baltic area of responsibility in response to the Russian Federation's invasion of Ukraine. His platoon was designated as the MEU’s primary quick reaction force (Sparrowhawk) for the duration of the deployment. 


Following the MEU, V26 formed Task Force Reaper which participated in a Deployment for Training (DFT) Exercise alongside the X-Ray Company, 45 Commando Royal Marines. Capt Fretto assumed command of a platoon reinforced element within Task Force Reaper and deployed to Eastern Europe. Upon arrival, his platoon embarked upon the British amphibious assault ship HMS Albion and participated in several joint amphibious exercises in support of BALTOPS23.


In July 2023, Capt Fretto assumed the position of Marine Officer Instructor at the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps unit at Arizona State University.
