Biographical Information
Charles Justin Smith was born in Corona, California and grew up in Lake Elsinore, California. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in August of 2007 and attended Recruit Training at Marine Corps Recruit Training Depot San Diego, California. Upon graduation he attended school for Military Police school in FT. Leonard wood Missouri. Following his MOS School, Private First Class Smith was assigned to Headquarters Support Squadron, Provost Marshal Office, Yuma Arizona, where he served as a Patrolman. In July of 2010 Lance Corporal Smith was transfered to 4th Platoon Military Police Company, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Camp Pendleton, California, where he served as a squad leader and was promoted to the rank of Corporal. Corporal Smith was then transfered to 1st Law Enforcement Battalion, Camp Pendleton, California, and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. In December of 2013, Sergeant Smith received orders to Drill Instructor School , Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Class 3-14. Upon Graduation of Drill Instructor School he was assigned to Kilo Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion where he served as a Drill Instructor, Senior Drill Instructor, and Chief Drill Instructor. He was also promoted to the rank of Staff Sergeant on Drill Instructor duty. In March of 2017 Staff Sergeant Smith received orders to Headquarters Support Battalion, Provost Marshal Office, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, where he served as a Platoon Sergeant, Platoon Commander, Training Chief, and Company Gunnery Sergeant. In December of 2019 Staff Sergeant Smith received orders to Arizona State University NROTC to serve as the Assistant Marine Officer Instructor.
