CAPT Katrina Hill

Captain Katrina “Kati” Hill is a native of Westminster, Maryland. She hold a Bachelor of Science degree with merit in Mechanical Engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy and a Master of Business Administration from Pennsylvania State University. She was a National Security Fellow at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government for the 2016-2017 school year and a Massachusetts Institute of Technology Seminar XXI fellow in 2018-2019.

Previously, Capt. Hill commanded the “Golden Eagles” of Patrol Squadron (VP) 9, stationed at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii and Navy Recruiting Region East based in Millington, Tennessee. Throughout her career as a P-3 pilot, she has deployed to every geographic region where the U.S. Navy operates, flying and leading combat operations during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

Capt. Hill has served extensively in the Middle East, where she deployed on the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN-74) as a catapult and arresting gear officer, served as Deputy Commander of Patrol and Reconnaissance Wing 57 in Bahrain, and also served as executive assistant to the senior naval officer in the region, Commander, U.S. Navy Central Command.

Her staff tours include strategy and policy assignments on the staffs of the Vice Chief of Naval Operations, U.S. Strategic Command and the Secretary of Navy as a liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives.  

Captain Hill’s personal decorations include the Legion of Merit (three awards), the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal (two awards). Her writing has appeared in the Boston Globe, the Baltimore Sun and U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings.
