Requirements
NROTC Nurse-Option Midshipmen must be an undergraduate in the College of Nursing. These Nurse-Option Midshipmen must earn a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) while completing the required Naval Science coursework of Nurse-Option Midshipmen. NROTC Nurses are Midshipmen, and as Midshipmen, they must meet the academic, physical, and moral requirements that are demanded of all future officers.
ROTC Nurse Program Option Midshipmen must complete the following NROTC courses:
- Introduction to Naval Science
- Seapower and Maritime Affairs
- Leadership and Management I and II
Pipeline
Following graduation and commissioning, Navy Nurses will take their National Council Licensure Exam-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN) exam. After passing this exam, these Nurses will transfer to their first duty station to begin their exciting career as a Navy Nurse.
Scholarship Opportunities
The NROTC Navy Nurse Program Option offers an opportunity for students interested in becoming nurses in the U.S. Navy to earn a bachelor's degree in nursing while earning a commission as an ensign. Students enrolled in the NROTC program as a nursing student are referred to as midshipmen and participate in weekly physical fitness training, specific naval science classes, and a Navy lab period to exercise leadership and learn Navy customs, courtesies and basic military knowledge.
