Biographical Information

Lieutenant Searra Sandlin, a native of Chandler, Arizona, graduated from the University of Arizona in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Physiology. She received her commission from the University of Arizona’s Navy ROTC program.

Upon completion of the Basic Division Officer Course in 2018, LT Sandlin began her naval journey as a Surface Warfare Officer. She reported to USS John S. McCain, where she served as the Gunnery Officer. During her time on USS John S. McCain, she completed one deployment and multiple patrols in the demanding Seventh Fleet area of operations.

In 2021, LT Sandlin graduated from Aegis Training and Readiness Center and was assigned as the Fire Control Officer onboard USS John S. McCain. During this tour, LT Sandlin oversaw the fire control suite during a baseline configuration upgrade, enhancing the ship's capabilities and technological readiness. LT Sandlin led multiple warfare areas through certification. Her personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and numerous unit commendations and awards.
